Dr. Matalgah is seeking graduate students to work on research projects in the area of wireless telecommunications and the area of telecommunication and networking in general. Graduate Research Assistant (RA) positions are available for highly qualified students at both the Ph.D. and M.S. levels with preference to be given to Ph.D. students who have a demonstrated interest in pursuing research in wireless telecommunications. However, Research Assistantships are also available for exceptional M.S. students who are qualified.
The research projects in the wireless telecommunication center are related to third generation (3G) and fourth generation (4G) fixed and mobile wireless communication networks. RF emerging technologies to be investigated in these projects include CDMA2000, WCDMA, MC-CDMA, and OFDM as they are applied to 3G and 4G communication networks in the PCS and MMDS frequency spectrums. Other related research topics include integrated MPLS/DiffServ to mature IP QoS & soft handoff in wireless communications, RF QoS, IP and ATM bandwidth requirements in the Radio Access Network (RAN), and portability in the next generation broadband wireless Internet access.
Interested students with background in one of the above research areas should contact Dr. Matalgah at the email address above.
