| Job Description: | Company Description: The center ships more than 21 million
cases of consumer products to various large retailers such as
Walmart, Kmart, Target, etc. JNJ SLC operates three such
distribution centers in the United States. Our order center,
management and customer service departments are located in
Skillman, NJ. The SLC manages the central distribution
network for 6 independent JNJ consumer companies which
together comprise the JNJ Consumer Companies Group.
JOB DESCRIPTION: While working in the Distribution Center,
an intern would be tasked with contributing to the solution
of a variety of technical problems, such as determining the
sources of shipping errors, estimating appropriate manning
hours, calculating expected productivity rates, time studies,
etc. He/She would also be tasked to bring about various
technical solutions which might involve designing databases,
gathering data in support of Process Excellence (six sigma
quality control measures), projects, or other technical
items. Though these tasks are not as pure devoted engineers
might desire, a very strong background in math, science,
engineering, or computer science has proven helpful and
essential towards success in this role.
Our vision is to offer a promising student an opportunity to
work in our Distribution Center for one summer. The
following summer (depending on performance of course) he/she
might be provided an opportunity to work at our JNJ SLC
headquarters located in Skillman, NJ and add to their
knowledge of the distribution field. Again , depending on
performance and demonstrated skill, there is always the
potential to obtain permanent employment with Johnson and
Johnson upon graduation.
