Winter 2002

From the Outgoing Chair

After serving The University of Mississippi since 1968, I stepped down as chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering on June 30, 2002. During this time, I have been fortunate to work with many outstanding faculty and staff members and hundreds of extremely talented students. As a team, we have accomplished a great deal in the area of electrical engineering technology for both our programs and our profession in the past three decades, which I will long remember.

Now, as I reflect on this period of my life, I feel that “far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing,” a comment once made by Theodore Roosevelt. I have had my chance, it was worth doing, and I enjoyed my time with all of you.

May the electrical engineering department continue to develop the quality of its programs to educate leaders of tomorrow for our state and nation and to seek knowledge for the betterment of mankind.
