Neilson G. Raggio, Jackson, Miss., was awarded a Marcus Elvis Taylor Memorial Medal for “meritorious scholarship and deportment” at the Honors Day Ceremony held in April in Fulton Chapel. The Taylor Medal is the highest award for scholarship at the University.

Richard D. Barginear, Grenada, Miss., and Jason A. Johnson, Booneville, Miss., were selected for membership in the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society during ceremonies on Honors Day.

Neilson G. Raggio, Jackson, Miss., and Richard D. Barginear, Grenada, Miss., were selected to receive the William L. Everitt Student Award of Excellence by the International Engineering Consortium, an industrial communications group with affiliated universities and schools.

The multidisciplinary senior design team of Tamara Crawford and Beau Perez, River Ridge, La., and Rodney Wolfe, Cascilla, Miss., received the Dean of Engineering Runners Up Award for the second semester Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Senior Design Class Exhibit 2002. The award included a $20 cash prize for each student. The students designed a model for a throttle body quality control testing device as an industry partnership project with Borg-Warner Corp. of Water Valley, Miss. Dr. Mark D. Tew acted as the senior design adviser for the project. Perez and Wolfe were senior electrical engineering students, and Crawford was in mechanical engineering before graduating in 2002.
