Goals: To provide students with an opportunity to pursue more detailed and advanced, design applications in electrical engineering. Specific technical course topic is to be selected.
Prerequisites by Topic:
1. Basic electromagnetics (ELE 341, 441)
2. Basic digital systems (ELE 335, 336, 385, 386)
3. Basic circuits and electronics (ENGR 360, 361; ELE 351, 352, 353)
Topics: The project and related course content is to be selected from areas of current interest based on theory and design. Examples of course topics are:
1. Design of temperature controlled oven using peltier effect devices
2. Design of a X-Band Pin Diode Modulator
3. Computer Simulation of Synthetic Aperture Radar
4. Design and Development of a PLC Trainer
5. Analysis of Corona Ring Performance using Moment Methods
6. Visualization Software for Finite Difference Time Domain geometry input data
7. Program to translate SPICE simulation data to other software packages
8. Design and testing of a microstrip antenna
9. Use of SPICE circuit analysis program for system simulation
10. Automating the HPB407A Network Analyzer
11. Influence of guy wires on electrical short monopole antennas
12. Development of software to control an antenna pattern range rotation
